Prelude in C sharp minor Op.45
Continuing along the project line drawn in 2013 with the Cycle of Noontime Concerts dedicated to Debussy and surroundings which was hailed with great interest and increasing participation, the Association Muzio Clementi proposes a similar in-depth and fascinating path again, with the 11 piano concertos of Chopin and surroundings. The concerts start with the most famous and loved works by the great musician, then widen to explore the environment and cultural climate of his country of origin - Poland – to then highlight the similarities and ties with different composers and European countries. Thus "framed" in its authentic, but little-known - and in some cases even ignored - artistic context, Chopin’s complex, innovative, even revolutionary personality stands out in an extraordinary way and his music - thanks to a group of six refined interpreters who are exceptional and passionate enthusiasts - goes straight to the heart of the listeners once more.
PIETRO DE MARIA
Chopin interpreter par excellence, after the Critics Prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, he won the Dino Ciani - Teatro alla Scala (1990) and the Géza Anda in Zurich (1994). In 1988 at the Geneva Conservatory he obtained the Premier Prix de Virtuosité with distinction and in 1997 he was awarded the Mendelssohn Prize in Hamburg. First Italian pianist, he performed the complete works of Chopin in public, whose recording (DECCA) has received important recognition (Diapason, International Piano, Pianiste). In the bicentenary of Chopin’s birth (2010), he played in the most important international forums: Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Zurich, Rome, Festival de Nohant, Peking, etc. He teaches at the Fiesole School of Music and the Academy of Pinerolo.
NICOLAS BOURDONCLE
Born in Aix -en-Provence in 1998, he comes from a musical family - his father Michel is a well-known concert performer. He has always dealt with strict studies, first with his father, then in 2005, at the Conservatory of his hometown. He then transferred to the Conservatory of Marseille and attended various master classes with musicians such as Bernard d’Ascoli, Daniel Wayenberg, Dominique Merlet, Carlos Roqué Alsina, Dang Thaï Son, Frédéric Aguessy, Jean-Marc Luisada, Konstantin Lifshitz and Vladimir Viardo. At ten years of age he made his first appearance playing the Concerto by Jean Français with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Odessa, Chisinau and Tiraspol. He got a degree in 2012 from the International Competition in Hanoi (Vietnam), in 2013 he was admitted unanimously to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris.
VINCENZO MALTEMPO
After winning the 2006 "Premio Venezia" at the Teatro La Fenice, he embarks on a rapid and brilliant career in Italy and abroad. He is a guest of institutions such as the Bologna Festival, MiTo Festival, Sagra Musicale Malatestiana, Liszt Festival (Raiding), Festspiele-südtirol (Dobbiaco) and collaborates with prestigious orchestras and major conductors. He develpos a special relationship with Gustav Kuhn who invites him to his Academy of Montegral in Lucca. His first album, dedicated to Liszt (2008) is presented with a concert at the Vienna Bösendorfersaal. The three CDs devoted to Charles Valentin Alkan (2012) obtain Five Stars from the magazine Diapason. In 2013 he made his debut in Japan with the integral of Etudes Op. 39 by Alkan. His U.S. debut is in 2014 at the Miami International Piano Festival. He teaches at the Imola Piano Academy - Talent development Eindhoven (the Netherlands), which was established in collaboration with the Academy Incontri and the Maestro in Imola.
SANDRO DE PALMA
Sandro De Palma is considered one of the most interesting performers on the European scene. Born in Naples, he was trained in the school of Vincenzo Vitale and later studied with Nikita Magaloff who had appreciated his talent when listening to him as a child. In fact, De Palma was presented in public for the first time at the age of nine with a program of music by Bach, Chopin and Schubert. At the age of 19, he won first prize at the International Competition "Alfredo Casella" in Naples and two years later he won First Prize of the "Foundation Bruce Hungerford" in New York that opened the doors of the famous Carnegie Hall for a concert which was welcomed with enthusiastic acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
Among the most significant stages of his career, we highlight, in 1983, the complete performance of Chopin’s Etudes at the "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli" International Festival in the offices of Brescia and Bergamo; in 1998 the brilliant success of his debut at the Wigmore Hall in London with the 24 Preludes by Chopin. In 2000, upon invitation of Yuri Temirkanov, he performed Concerto no.1 by Franz Liszt with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.
In October 2001, with Andrea Bocelli and Ilia Kim under the baton of Donato Renzetti, he performed the premiere of ... malinconia, ninfa gentile for voice, two-pianos concertante and string orchestra by Azio Corghi, who later dedicated the Suite…Di bravura taken from this composition, to him and Kim.
The ... malinconia, ninfa gentile recording on disc was published by the President of the Senate in Italy. He also performed in the premiere of Concerto for piano and orchestra by Michele Dall’Ongaro.
Among the major successes obtained with the Berlin Philharmonic, he played the Franck Quintet with the "Quartet Amarcorde", and the tour of Concerto no. 1 for piano and trumpet by Shostakovich with the strings of the famous German orchestra.
He has been a guest at the most important European festivals: "Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli" Festival (1983, ’88, ’93, ’94, ’95, ’97, 2002 editions), the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Ljubljana Festival, Ravenna Festival, September Music of Turin, Ravello Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival. He has also gone on several tours, as a soloist and with orchestras, throughout Europe, in the United States, Mexico, Japan - in 2002 and 2006 - and in China, where he also played in the Forbidden City. He is also very busy with chamber music activities.
MAURIZIO BAGLINI
He is one of the most brilliant musicians on the international scene. At twenty-four years of age, he was winner of the World Music Piano Master in Monte Carlo; his assets include an extensive career in Europe, America and Asia: over 1,200 concerts as a soloist and 1,000 of chamber music in prestigious venues such as the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Kennedy Center in Washington. Recordings: solo Liszt, Schumann, Scarlatti; as a duo with Silvia Chiesa (cello): Brahms and Schubert. He is artistic director of the Amiata Piano Festival and the French Chamber Festival Les musiques de Montcaud. Since 2013 he has been a consultant of the Verdi Municipal Theater of Pordenone for music and dance.
DANA CIOCARLIE
Heir to the Romanian school of Lipatti, Clara Haskil and Radu Lupu, she studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Dominique Merlet and Georges Pludermacher, and also examined Schubert with Christian Zacharias. With an exuberant and captivating temperament, she masters a solo and chamber music repertoire from Bach to the contemporaries. She was awarded in various competitions - Schumann (Zwickau), Geza Anda, Pro Musicis, YCA European Auditions (Leipzig) and is a graduate of prestigious Foundations and has played in the U.S.A., Canada, China and all over Europe. She has recorded CDs devoted to Schubert, Debussy, Lekeu, Dvořák and Romanian music. Critics emphasize her interpretative maturity, naturalness and expressiveness. She is a Professor at the Conservatory of Lyon, and also teaches at the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot in Paris.
