The Competition "European Community" for Young Opera Singers is one
of the most important international competitions. The winners are
eligible for a two-year Training Course for Debut before being engaged
in the Experimental Opera Season of Spoleto and Umbria.
In the
past the Spoleto Competition had been won by many of the most famous
opera singers, stars on the international scene, including Cesare
Valletti, Franco Corelli, Antonietta Stella, Ettore Bastianini,
Giangiacomo Guelfi, Anita Cerquetti, Renato Bruson, Ruggero Raimondi,
Leo Nucci, Marcella Pobbe, Mariella Devia, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Lucia
Aliberti, Elizabeth Norberg Schulz, Norma Fantini, Sonia Ganassi,
Daniela Barcellona, Cinzia Forte, Marina Comparato, Micaela Carosi,
Nicola Ulivieri, Fabio Maria Capitanucci, Roberto De Candia and in the
last few years Andrea Carè, Simone Piazzola, Maria Agresta and Veronica
Simeoni.
The artists who will perform in the concert Oh de’
verd’anni miei, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Francesco Massimi,
are the winners of the 2013 European Singing Competition of Spoleto,
whose jury was chaired by renowned soprano Lella Cuberli and composed
of: Antonina Boneva-lecturer at the Sofia Conservatory, Maestro Luis
Alva-tenor and teacher of courses at the Teatro alla Scala Academy in
Milan, Maestro Sergey Evtushenko-composer and Artistic Director of the
Music Academy of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Prof. Enrico
Girardi music critic for the newspaper "Corriere della Sera" and
professor of musicology at the Catholic University of Milan and Brescia,
Maestro Carlo Donadio-representative of the Artistic Direction of the
Teatro dell’Opera of Rome and the Maestro Michelangelo Zurletti-Artistic
Director of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto.
Among
the main teachers of the Training Course for Debut 2013 we have the
soprano Lella Cuberli, baritone Renato Bruson and directors Giorgio
Bongiovanni and Sandra De Falco.
The concert will be presented
by Andrea Penna, one of the voices of Rai Radio3 Suite, who is
well-acquainted with the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto for
having been a press agent here a few years ago.
ANNALISA FERRARINI
She has won the 67th edition of the
"European Community" for Young Opera Singers Competition 2013 of the
Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto "A. Belli" finishing first place
with a score of 8.90.
She was born in Reggio Emilia in 1982.
She graduated from the Conservatorio Boito in Parma, where she continues
to specialize under the guidance of the soprano Lucetta Bizzi.
She
has participated in numerous master classes held by famous singers such
as Fiorenza Cedolins, Marco Berti, Amarilli Nizza and Elisabetta
Fiorillo.
She represented Italy for the World Youth Choir tour
in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland and performed in the choir of
the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Zubin Mehta. She has also
worked for the choirs of the Theaters of Modena, Parma and Piacenza.
She
was a finalist for the Premio Nazionale delle Arti in Turin and Lecce
and was awarded twice at the Concorso Lirico Città di Deiva Marina. She
won the Premio Internazionale di Canto Lirico Valerio Gentile.
She
has appeared at prestigious venues including the Teatro Regio of Parma,
Teatro Politeama Greco of Lecce, the Teatro Comunale of Ferrara and the
Teatro Sociale of Trento, where she held various roles in both
traditional opera and contemporary authors. She has also explored the
repertoire of vocal chamber measuring herself in Lieder, songs, chansons
and canciones.
Her debut in the 67th Stagione Lirica Sperimentale of Spoleto and Umbria will take place in the months of September and October.
CHIARA ISOTTON
She
has won the 67th edition of the "European Community" for Young Opera
Singers Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto
"A. Belli" obtaining fourth place with a score of 8.14.
She
was born in Belluno in 1985. She started to study singing with Elena
Filini at the school "A. Miari"of Belluno and then continued at the
Conservatory" Benedetto Marcello"of Venice where she graduated under the
guidance of Maestro Stefano Gibellato. She continued her specialization
with Maestro William Matteuzzi and currently with Maestro Roberto
Scandiuzzi. In 2008 she attended the courses of the Accademia Musicale
Chigiana of Siena with Maestro Renato Bruson. In June 2009 she won a
scholarship at the XXXIX edition of the International Competition "Toti
dal Monte" of Treviso and attended a master of "La Vera Costanza" by
Haydn with Regina Resnik. At the Teatro Comunale of Treviso she attended
a course held by various teachers, including Maria Chiara and Roberto
Scandiuzzi. Again with Maestro Scandiuzzi she participated in a
specialization course in the summer of 2010 in Santander at the UIMP.
In
2012 she won the "Premio Barioni" at the III International Opera
Competition "Città di Ferrara", in 2009 the second prize at the
International Competition "Velluti" of Riviera del Brenta (VE), in 2005
the first prize at the National Competition for Young Opera Singers
"Anna Veloce d’Ettore" of Ravenna and in 2007 the first prize at the
International Competition of Chamber Music "Davorin Jenko" in Belgrade.
She
was Fiordispina in L’impresario in angustie by Cimarosa (in
collaboration with the Venice Biennale), Sandrina in La Cecchina, ossia
la buona figliola by Piccinni at the Malibran Theater in Venice, Albina
in La Calamita dé Cuori by Galuppi (Festival Galuppi of Venice).
She
played the role of Emilia in La stanza terrena by A. Miari, on stage at
the Teatro Comunale of Belluno, Mimì in La Bohème at the Auditorium
Steffanini of Treviso, Violetta in La Traviata and the Countess in Le
Nozze di Figaro by Mozart at the Teatro Comunale of Belluno and the
Teatro "Cantero" in Chiavari ( GE).
She also carries out an
intense concert activity for both sacred music and operatic recitals in
collaboration with orchestras, pianists, vocal groups, ensembles.
She will debut in Spoleto and in Umbria during the Stagione Lirica Sperimentale 2013.
CHIARA MARGARITO
She
is a winner of the 67th edition of the "European Community" for Young
Opera Singers Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of
Spoleto "A. Belli" finishing sixth with a score of 8.04.
She
was born in Pescara in 1986. She graduates in singing in 2013 with
honors from the Conservatory "Bruno Maderna" of Cesena, under the
guidance of Rossella Marcantoni.
Currently she is continuing
her specialization at the International Music Academy Maria Malibran of
Altidona, still under the guidance of Mrs. Marcantoni.
She has had a busy concert schedule.
She
won the XV edition of the International Competition Valerio Gentile in
the town of Fasano and the V edition of the International Singing
Festival Competition of Amandola.
She will debut in the 67th Stagione Lirica Sperimentale of Spoleto and Umbria, in the months of September and October.
FRANCESCA BILIOTTI
She
has won the 67th edition of the "European Community" for Young Opera
Singers Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto
"A. Belli" obtaining second place with a score of 8.64.
She
was born in Venice in 1982. She obtained her Level I academic diploma at
the Conservatory G. Cantelli of Novara. She is studying Baroque and
Rossini repertoires in depth with the contralto Sara Mingardo and the
contralto Bernadette Manca di Nissa.
She was a
finalist in the "V Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico Ravello città
della Musica" (2009) and winner of the "Concorso Internazionale Opera
Rinata" (2009). In 2010 she participated in the Spiros Argiris
International Competition where she received a scholarship to attend a
European master class with Luis Alva, Raina Kabaivanska and Giuseppe
Sabbatini. In 2012 she was awarded first prize in the "Francesco
Albanese" Opera Competition of Torre del Greco, then a finalist in the
Competition "La città sonora" of Cinisello Balsamo (MI) and winner of
the prize "Best Mezzo-soprano" in the Competition "Franca Mattiucci" of
Canelli (AT).
She participated in the Festival of Music in
Mantua and performed in the "St. Matthew Passion" by J.S. Bach in
Verbania, Novara, Vercelli and Biella. From 2005 to 2009 she
participated in the Music Season "Primavera in musica" in the town of
Arona. She has collaborated with the Camerata dei Laghi performing in
Milan, Bormio, Lecco, Verbania and Varese.
From the 1900s
repertoire she interpreted Martucci’s lyrics on the occasion of the
National Conference of martuccian studies (2009) and the Mass of Slaves
by Stravinsky at the Palazzina Liberty in Milan (2010).
She has performed in several recitals in Italy and in Tokyo (Music for Youth, Cascade Hall, Lutheran Church of Okayama).
Last
February, she debuted in the role of Isabella with the Teatro Nuovo in
Turin in a production of L’Italiana in Algeri by Rossini in various
theaters of Piedmont.
She will debut in the 67th Stagione Lirica Sperimentale of Spoleto and Umbria, in the months of September and October.
ALEC ROUPEN AVEDISSIAN
He
is a winner of the 67th edition of the "European Community" for Young
Opera Singers Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of
Spoleto "A. Belli" finishing third with a score of 8.54.
He
was born in Ruse, in Bulgaria in 1982. He graduated from the Music
Academy of Sofia and specializes with Alexandrina Milcheva.
He
has received numerous acknowledgments including first prize at the
International Schubert Competition in Ruse and at the Haydn Competition
in Sofia, in addition to being a finalist in the Singing Competition of
Toulouse taking part in the final concert directed by Jacques Lacombe.
Afterwards he was a finalist of the International Opera Competition of
Marseille, winner of the International Lied Competition in Sofia and
received an honorable mention at the V edition of the International
Opera Competition of St. Petersburg. Recently he was a finalist of the
International Schumann Competition in Zwickau, Germany.
For
three years he attended the Centre National d’Artistes Lyriques in
Marseille, followed the master classes of famous artists such as Sona
Ghazarian, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Tom Krause and studied at the Sir George
Solit Academy with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Federica von Stade.
He
has performed in concerts and recitals in Bulgaria, Russia, Austria and
France (opera houses of Toulouse, Marseille, Avignon). He faced his
first operatic roles performing in Bulgaria in the roles of Dr.
Malatesta (Don Pasquale) and Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) and in France in
the roles of Montano (Otello), Fiorello (The Barber of Seville),
Schaunard (La bohème).
His debut will take place in Spoleto and Umbria during the next season of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A. Belli".
FRANCESCO SALVADORI
He
is a winner of the "European Community" for Young Opera Singers
Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto "A. Belli"
placing seventh with a score of 8.02.
Born in Siena in 1985,
after having studied piano and solfeggio privately, he begins to study
singing at the Conservatory "L. Cherubini" of Florence under the
guidance of Donatella Debolini.
Initially he devotes himself
in particular to the study of the Mozart repertoire debuting then in the
lead roles for all the works of the famous trilogy on librettos by
Lorenzo Da Ponte: Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva and Guglielmo.
Thereafter, he devotes himself to the study of Rossini and Donizetti’s
works. He is also able to debut in minor roles for works by composers
such as Verdi, Puccini, R. Strauss and Menotti.
On these
occasions, he collaborates with several conductors and directors
including Böer, Shambadal, Boccadoro, Menegatti, Knabe, Torrigiani,
Garosi, Ciardi, Di Muro, Lombardo, Chologlu, Veleno, Nemack and Di
Lieto.
He cultivates an intense concert activity devoting
himself also to sacred and baroque music and interpreting Fauré’s
Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and Mozart’s Requiem.
For
two consecutive years he has participated in the "Cantiere
Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano" playing the role of Ottavio in
Brimborium an unpublished work by Mauro Montalbettim, a role for which
he is still in the limelight at the Teatro Grande in Brescia with the
director Barbara Di Lieto and conductor Carlo Boccadoro.
He will debut in Spoleto and Umbria during the next season organized by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A. Belli".
DAVIDE GIANGREGORIO
He
has won the 67th edition of the "European Community" for Young Opera
Singers Competition 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto
"A. Belli" finishing in fifth place with a score of 8.09.
He
was born in Benevento in 1989. He starts to study opera singing with the
baritone Gioacchino Zarrelli and he is specializing with the
mezzo-soprano Chiara Chialli. He graduates in singing from the
Conservatory "Nicola Sala" of Benevento where he also received his lower
complement in organ and organ composition and where he is majoring in
piano.
He has participated as a soloist in operas
and concerts: I convivati di pietra, ossia il mito di Don Giovanni
all’opera at the Museo del Sannio in Benevento, L’agonia di nostro
Signore Gesù Cristo, the oratory by Carmine Giordano, Il pesciolino
freddoloso diventa re, musical tale by Gaudiello; Il barbiere di
Siviglia by Rossini (Don Basilio) at the Teatro Comunale of Benevento
and the Teatro della Reggia of Caserta, La finta parigina by Cimarosa
(Cardillo) at the Teatro Trianon Viviani of Naples.
He
attended the Academy of Singing "Giovani all’Opera 2012" coordinated by
Natale De Carolis, then performing at the 51st edition of the Stresa
Festival in the role of Don Basilio for The Barber of Seville by
Rossini.
He participated in the internship LTL Opera Studio at
the Teatro Verdi in Pisa with teachers Marcello Lippi, Alberto
Paloscia, Matteo Beltrami and Fabio Sparvoli.
He has recently been admitted to the Accademia Rossiniana 2013.
He will debut in Spoleto and in Umbria in the next season organized by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A. Belli".
FRANCESCO MASSIMI
He
graduated at the age of 19 with full marks from the Conservatory
"Gesualdo da Venosa" in Potenza under the guidance of Maestro Lucio
Grimaldi, participating immediately as a soloist in important events.
In
2002 he graduated from the Professional Training Course for Assistant
Maestro at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A. Belli", thanks
to which he has the opportunity to learn the aspects of piano and vocal,
chamber and symphonic musical interpretation in depth.
For
the Spoleto institution he directed the instrumental ensemble in the
performance of two melologues Pietra e Distacco (2007) directed by
Giorgio Pressburger, in Don Falcone by Niccolò Jommelli (2008) and in Il
Cuoco e la Madama by Giuseppe Sigismondi (2009 ).
Fundamental
to his artistic journey is the encounter with Maestro Federico Maria
Sardelli, with whom he worked as an assistant and harpsichordist in the
ensemble "Modo Antiquo".
In 2011, in addition to his role as
harpsichord concert master, he prepared the revision and transcription
of two eighteenth century interludes by Antonio Caldara (Pipa and
Barlafuso) and Leonardo Leo (La Zingaretta), a new production of the
Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto. The following year, for the same
Lirico di Spoleto, he transcribed "La Favola dei Tre Gobbi", two
interludes by Vincenzo Legrenzio Ciampi upon a libretto by Carlo
Goldoni, then carried out the conducting of the orchestral ensemble.
He
studies composition and orchestra conducting. He also collaborates with
the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A.Belli" as a master
collaborator and professor of the Training Course for Debut of Young
Opera Singers.
ANDREA PENNA
Andrea Penna was born in 1970 in Rome, where he studied piano and graduated.
Since
1997, he has been active as a promoter, organizer of cultural events,
press office. He collaborates with music magazines and newspapers; among
the publications there are some essays on Roman Studies and for Skira a
biography of G. F. Haendel.
He is one of the conductors of RAI - Radio 3 Suite.
In the past, he worked as a press agent with the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "A.Belli."
