ORCHESTRA OF THE SANTA CECILIA CONSERVATORY
The Orchestra of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, is the brainchild of Maestro Edda Silvestri, Director of the same, and Maestro Silvia Massarelli, Professor of Orchestral Training at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. The age of the musicians who compose it ranges from 14 to 25, and all of them attend middle and superior courses of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. The Orchestra debuted successfully inaugurating the Festival "Jeux d’Art à Villa d’Este" in Tivoli in September 2010, since then it holds about 10 concerts a year, presenting themselves in the most important cultural events organized
by the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia; among which we quote the partecipation at the Sax Fest, The week of Culture and Music in Rome for Rome, in collaboration with the Municipality of Rome, Les Jours de France à Rome and Suona Francese, in collaboration with the Embassy of France and the Municipality of Rome, the concerts at the Teatro Vespasiano of Rieti, the
concerts in the Basilica of St. Peter in collaboration with the Vatican City and the Holy See. Among the upcoming events, among others, the Concert on the Island of Ischia during the celebrations of the Patron Saint of the Island, Saint Michele, in September.

SILVIA MASSARELLI
"An exceptional personality: a deep sensitivity, that captures even the slightest indication of the score, an impalpable delicacy in the dreamy moments and then an impetus, an emotional warmth that are/is recognized immediately " (La Sicilia - S.Sciacca) "Grand Prix de direction d’orchestre" at the International Competition of Besançon (Jury President Manuel Rosenthal). Critics Award at the Prokofiev Competition in St. Petersburg and only winner of the competition Robert Blot of Paris, Silvia Massarelli studied at the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris, where she graduated with honors unanimously. Assistant to M. W. Chung for Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at the Opéra Bastille in Paris and to Laurentof Petit-Girard for Massenet’s Werther at the Opéra Comique of Paris, Silvia Massarelli has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians such as Michel Dalberto, Martin Spandenberg, solo clarinet of Muncher Philharmoniker, Claude Delangle and Jean-Yves Fourmeau, solo sax of the Berliner Philharmoniker. She has directed premières of numerous composers including Jacqueline Fontyne, Edison Denisov, Lowell Liebermann, Eric Tanguy, Thierry Escaich, Lorenzo Palomo and she has participated in the Nordic Days Musical Festival of Rejkiavik. She has been invited by numerous prestigious orchestras including: New York Philharmonic, Wiener Kammer Orchester, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre des Concerts Lamourex, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Orchestre Phylarmonique des Pays de la Loire, Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy, Orchestre Symphonique de Tours, Haendel Festspiele Orchester Halle, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic of Bialystok, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Ecuador State National Orchestra. Among the many Italian orchestras directed by her, stand the recent debuts with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Orchestra Filarmonica of Turin, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale of the RAI; the recent successes with the Hulencourt Soloist Chamber Orchestra (Brussels) and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, have elevated the artistic qualities at an international level. First place at the national competition for exams and qualifications, she is currently a professor of Conducting at the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome. Silvia Massarelli lives in Pordenone, with her husband the Engineer Andrea Brundisini and their two daughters, Virginia and Ginevra.
